Unite Social Collaboration & Access Control across Enterprise and Cloud with Intel® Expressway Cloud Access 360

With mainstream adoption of cloud applications and social collaboration within enterprises, the next challenge to overcome is to enable seamless identity management and social interaction across multiple applications. Qontext provides cross-application social collaboration functionality and Intel® Expressway Cloud Access 360 (Intel ECA 360) provides access control for the cloud through federated single-sign-on (SSO), user provisioning, step up strong authentication and client aware authorization.

Qontext joined the Intel® Expressway partnership program to bring several unique advantages:

  • Single Sign On: Login once into desktop (IWA supported) or other application and access Qontext
  • Central ID Management: Use master corporate directory (e.g., AD, LDAP) for user provisioning and application access management. Manage access to Qontext just as you do for on-premises applications.
  • User Provisioning: Auto-provision or de-provision Qontext users.
  • Microsoft SharePoint Integration: Social-enable SharePoint with Qontext activity feed and making postings directly to Qontext. Search SharePoint content from within Qontext with correct corporate access privileges.
  • Administration Activity Feed: Include Intel ECA 360 events in the Qontext Activity Feed.
  • Authenticate from Qontext in the cloud to on-premises applications.

How it works

Single Sign On from Qontext on Cloud to on-premises Active Directory

Intel ECA 360 deployed on-premises can be used as a SAML 2.0 provider to enable users to authenticate against Active Directory deployed in the enterprise.

Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA) is supported by Intel ECA360. With IWA enabled, a desktop user could directly access his/her Qontext account online while logged in on the desktop.

Enabling Qontext Web Parts inside Microsoft SharePoint

Qontext Web Parts for SharePoint allow users to view Qontext activity feed and make postings directly to Qontext from any page in SharePoint. Administrator can customize where and to whom the web parts are shown.

SharePoint pages can authenticate users against Enterprise ActiveDirectory. With Intel ECA 360 integration, Qontext Web Parts will not required users to re-authenticate again.

Alerts generated from Intel ECA 360 are published as feeds in Qontext. Administrators can collaborate with each other on problem analysis and action plan for these alerts.

Authorize Qontext in the cloud to access on-premises web services

Qontext – Intel ECA360 integration will enable Qontext in the cloud to make secure web service calls to on-premises applications. Such an integration allows Qontext in the cloud to perform federated search on SharePoint running on-premises. User impersonation by Intel ECA360 ensures that search results only show documents that the user has access to. Intel ECA 360′s robust platform secures the web-services against abuse and malicious attacks.
