Faceted, Full-text Search
Qontext’s full-text search engine indexes each document that is uploaded and enables searching inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, and Open Office document types. The key to effective searching lies in the ability to find the item you are looking for and not just a large number of search results.
- Qontext helps you narrow down the results by providing filters or facets. For example, a search for the term “enterprise 2.0” may display, say, 1252 results. To narrow down the search, you may choose from the following filters (facets):
- Items (such as document, bookmark, discussion, page, tweet, blog, actionstream, poll etc.)
- Created By
- File Types (such as PDF, doc, ppt, spreadsheet, txt, image, archive etc.)
- Group Categories (such as Focus, Project, Team etc.)
- Stored in Group
- Department
- Location
- Facets are based on the current search results and change as you narrow down the results.
- The tag cloud of items in the result set help narrow down the search results.
- Search results can be sorted by relevancy or time.
- You can save a search result (by giving it a name for recall). This is useful when using the same search criteria repeatedly to find the same or incremental information (feature coming soon).
